Trend Alert: Copper

Copper seems to be everywhere, especially when it comes to homewares. Every time I log on to Pinterest there’s more metal inspiration for me to swoon over. From copper kitchen piping being used as a feature instead of hidden away, to home decorative items, this bronze coloured metal is definitely one of the major interior looks of 2014 – and is set to get even bigger in 2015.

At first I thought copper should only really be teamed with warmer tones and whites, but then when I saw the greys and stainless steel coffee table below with a copper top, I realised it works with pretty much most things. If you want to get this trend in your home I’ve done a little collage of my favourite items below.

Take a look at some of my copper inspiration pictures too and let me know if this is something you’d try and style into your home.

What I Love This Week (9)

Heeled Strappy Sandals from Blanco – These are absolute beauties. Incredibly comfortable and cheap too at £20! Perfect with any outfit and a complete love.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 04 Petal Shimmer – A softly textured lip gel with a deliciously sweet scent. Lips are left looking soft, smooth, shiny and plump. Sheer, but has enough colour to wear alone or to complement your favourite lip shade. Love. Love. Love.

Dogeared Balance Large Curved Bar Gold Dipped Necklace – A happy life is not built upon the goal of perfection, but balance. This necklace was a gift rom the boy for my birthday and I haven’t taken it off since. Nearly a month down the line and it’s still hanging daintily around my neck.

Orange Is The New Black – The story of Piper Chapman, a woman in her thirties who is sentenced to fifteen months in prison after being convicted of a decade-old crime of transporting money for her drug-dealing girlfriend. This series is utterly gripping. I’ve got 2 episodes left of season 2, and I don’t know what I’m going to do until the next season airs!

This GORGEOUS Clutch Bag – I don’t know where this is from, or how much it is. But i NEED it. Any info, please advise… please!

Anna from ViviaanaDoesMakeup – Serious. Brow. Envy. Currently sporting wolverine-esque slug brows in an attempt to grow them out so I can wax them this this.

Same time next week?

No Makeup, Makeup

My staple, my go-to face, basically what I like to throw on daily perhaps switching up a lip colour or blush here and there and wearing mascara. Prepare not to be wowed, but to see the two products that have got the no makeup, makeup thing down.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector – Just in general. No particular shade… but the one pictured above is 01 – Rose Shimmer. I’d go as far to say that these are my favourite lip products ever. They may seem to make a pretty big dent for a lipgloss, but think a gloss, with colour, shine and nourishment that means that there’s never an opportunity where these guys don’t work. The two pinky hues are my favourite and at least one of them resides in my handbag at all times. They have the ‘my lips but better’ thing down, and that’s what makes them a great pick for a no makeup makeup day. These lip glosses have Shea Butter and Wild Mango in the formula to repair and soften the lips, whilst Vitamins A and E sneak in to reinforce the repairing action and protect against free radicals. At £17 a pop they’re a tad pricey for a lipgloss, but these are so worth it! Let’s just say I’m on my way to owning every. single. shade. Oops.

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder SPF 15B20 and B40. There’s some long standing confusion over the function of these powders, but I like a bit of B40 round the edges of my face to give some much needed definition and B20 down the centre for that extra scrap of coverage for days when you need a little somethin’ somethin’ but really can’t be bothered. I’m not hugely into powder foundation products (and this certainly isn’t one of them…), but even I can accept that sometimes thing’s can get a bit shiny, so just to be safe, and to add a bit of coverage, a quick dusting can work wonders. Something that’s light with a hint of colour is what you’re getting here. Extra points because it comes with its own brush and mirror – and it’s so beautiful!

What I Love This Week (4)

This week for me has been up and down. I’m battling with some awful illness that’s making me feel tired and down in the dumps – but I’m working through it and am determined not to feel sorry for myself. I kinda expected it to be honest. After running myself into the ground with exams I thought that I might be on the right track for some kind of niggle – this time it’s a cross wit flu and toothache. But on a lighter note, here’s what I’ve been loving this week

eBay –  mother of god, this site is dangerous. I’ve become obsessed with it, selling, buying, watching and searching. Most of the time you’ll find me scrolling through my saved searches that pings up hits from my lusted after items – it’s a great pass time. Seriously. I waste hours on here. But, at the same time, I’ve found some utter bargains – so it’s not to be sniffed at.

Home – I love being home. It’s a comfort thing I guess, but there really is nothing like coming home, back to your old room, and your own bed, and being looked after by your mum. I especially love being around my family, and getting to see them whenever I want. I guess I didn’t realise that I was such a home bird.

Running – Now, if you’d have asked me a year ago, I would’ve said that this was a swearword.  But shockingly, over the past few weeks, I have been known to actually go out running. Now, nothing major might I add. Just the odd mile here or there to improve the fitness levels – the verdict? I have actually been enjoying it. I like feeling active, and having the enthusiasm to get out and do something, and I like to see an improvement. When I first started I would get halfway out the door and want to turn straight back round again, but now… I can do a solid mile (without stopping) and feel… tired. But good! I’m not going to pretend that I’m some avid runner that will be able to run miles and miles at my own leisure. It’s just never going to happen. But what I can do is share my own personal and very novice experiences and hopefully offer some support for others trying to get into a bit of exercise!

Boots – I find summer footwear a problem. I like to wear shoes with good support so that my feet don’t hurt, but with summer offerings, that’s sometimes a mean feat. This year I’ve been loving wearing boots, nothing knew high or PVC (get your minds out of the gutter!) – just little suede ankle boots – not exactly summer appropriate. But I may have found some boots that fit the summer bill. Shelly’s London Chanrut Suede Cut Beige Ankle Boots from ASOS just spoke to me whilst browsing the site a few days ago. They’re nude and chic and have a cute little cut out at the back adding a little bit of sex appeal to the shoe (what am I saying?! It’s just a heel). But honestly, these shoes are lovely – the perfect addition to any outfit, rain or shine.

Tanning – Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning for Face – £19 – A touch of added colour just evens out my skintone, makes me feel much more comfortable about that bare-faced chic look and generally makes me look healthier. My facial tanner of choice is the Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning Lotion for Face but I’m also a major fan of Decléor Aroma Sun Expert Self-Tanning Milk Natural Glow for Face and Body (what a name.)  No funky smells, sticky texture or the fear of being orange – I don’t have a bad word to say about them. Expect a review around these parts soon-ish.

A much more lifestyle orientated set weekly loves rattling around this week but what can I say… same time next week?
