The New Makeup Releases

Today I have a roundup of new beauty items on my radar. This time of year all the best beauty launches come creeping out, beautiful colours and gorgeous new scents.

Diptyque Florabellio – New from Diptyque is the Florabellio Eau de Toilette (review here). It’s available starting this month and is a gorgeous mix of sweet, salty, apple blossom and apricot-scented osmanthus mist.

Charlotte Tilbury X Norman Parkinson – CT has teamed up with Vogue photographer, Norman Parkinson, to create a beautiful collaboration of his most renowned work on to the packaging of the make-up brand; including the Jerry Hall cover image used in Vogue’s May 1975 issue. The range includes:

A cream take on the Filmstar Bronze & Glow

Dreamy Glow powder highlighter featuring a 1959 Vogue cover of Carmen Dell’Orefice.

Creamy lip and cheek glow bearing an image of Parkinson’s wife Wenda.

Two matte lipsticks, alongside the Jerry Hall-print make-up bag.

A large wash bag/makeup bag (NEED)

The Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson Collection is available from Selfridges and CharlotteTilbury.com in July and all other Charlotte Tilbury stockists in August.

Hourglass Ambient Bronzers – Don’t these look gorgeous?! Hourglass are releasing two illuminating bronzers with Photoluminescent Technology, featuring bronze pigments that deliver a natural-looking, sunkissed glow while flaunting depth and dimension. The powders, blended by hand using an advanced miscelare technique, offer the perfect balance of pigments in a gorgeous pattern. The two shades are Radiant Bronze Light and Luminous Bronze Light.

Bobbi Brown Cheek Pallets – This spring blush palette launch is cheek-focused, encased are three coordinating shades of blush that can be layered or used alone. The centre shade can also be used as a highlighter.

Are there any new releases that have caught your eye?

The Long Term Product Line-Up

Today I thought I dish the dirt on the products that have a permanent position in my stash. I’m talking serious HG status, multiple re-purchases, and ‘can’t live without’s’.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel – This is my ‘go-to’ morning cleanser. A light gel that transforms into oil on contact with the skin that leaves things looking bright and plumped. When I use this my skin feels clean, yet nourished. With a potent blend of high-tech natural ingredients including a broad range of vitamins and essential skin nutrients, Oskia’s Renaissance Cleansing Gel is the original (and best…) gel cleanser of its ilk; totally unique, it helps to strengthen and revitalise skin whilst eliminating every last speck of residual everyday grime. It keeps spots at bay and leaves a clean base for the day ahead.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural Lift and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing Balm – Long name, amazing product, amazing smell. So amazing in fact, I would say i’d be at a loss without it. This is my go-to evening cleanser, to be used after I’ve taken my makeup off, to cleanse the skin. This leaves my face clean, soft and cleansed. When I use this I feel like i’ve had a spa facial treatment. It’s that good.

Bobbi Brown Lip Colour in Brownie – This is my signature lip colour that I would like to think I’d never be without. This creamy, semi-matte lipstick gives lips instant polish with rich, full coverage. This is a gorgeous pinky brown that I slick on nearly every day. A creamy, semi-matte lipstick that gives lips instant polish with an opaque rich coverage. It’s my favourite. Such a bold claim I know but it really is. It just adds that extra somethin’ somethin’ to every look. And boy does this stick around, I’ve started the day at 8am and managed to go a full 5 hours (including lunch) before needing to do a touch up. I go straight from the bullet with this, and find that one coat is more than enough to do me for the day.

YSL Fusion Ink Foundation in B20 – This foundation imparts trustworthy, perfect coverage and long-wear, but without compromising with a heavy or cakey texture. It contains a combination of volatile oils which, upon contact with the skin, evaporate away – leaving only a veil of pigment behind. This foundation smells, feels and looks amazing! This is the perfect shade match for me and I love the coverage it gives. If you haven’t tried this then get yourself to a YSL counter asap! They usually let you have a little sample to try out, it’s well worth a try!

Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial & Morning Facial
The overnight facial oil is the most well-known product from the range – It’s a serum, moisturiser and oil in one and basically does everything you’d want a skincare product to do. This smells divine, and leaves you looking it too. Which is much the same as its AM counterpart. It follows the same lines as its PM equivalent; a serum/oil hybrid that can be used however you like: before moisturiser, after, on its own after toning – it’s your call. I apply one pump after I’ve finished my skincare routine and it leaves my skin looking plumped and hydrated. It makes me look rested and awake, even in the early hours! It’s also worth pointing out that makeup sits on top of it just fine!

Maybelline Colout Tattoo 24-Hour Gel-Cream Eyeshadow in On and On BronzePhew! That’s one heck of a name, and a true classic. Hands up who’s already got this? I’m imaging most of you. The colour is a pretty taupe bronze with just the right amount of shimmer, the texture is unreal and the longevity something else.

Are there any products that you couldn’t be without?

Beauty from the Oscars

This years 87th academy awards saw a mass of beautifully dressed women with more than impeccable makeup. Here are 6 of my favourite looks of the evening.

Margot Robbie wearing Saint Laurent

Margot glowed on the red carpet thanks to flawless skin, perfectly groomed brows, and a vibrant, creamy red lip. Products used to achieve this look were – Hourglass Panoramic Long Wear Lip Pencil  and Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick, both in Raven, for the pop of matte orange-red I just adore. Her flawless skin and nearly-naked eyes set the stage for that electric lip to steal the show. Enviable up-groomed brows, and a blunt side-parted bob polished the whole look off perfectly.

Dakota Johnson wearing Saint Laurent

Dakota eschewed any shades of grey in favour of red tones, including her soft shadow, dewy lip, and perfect ponytail. Bold brows, a soft smudgy eye, and creamy porcelain skin flattered her featured. But what really perfected the look was the matte cherry-red lip that was perfectly matched to her dress. Top marks for the IT-girl of the moment.

Sienna Miller wearing Oscar de la Renta

Sienna Miller is no stranger to epic red carpet moments, but the star looked more stunning than ever with slick-backed hair, a bronze smoky eye, and the perfect matte pink lip at the hands of Charlotte Tilbury. This is perhaps my favourite look of the bunch. I just can’t get over the perfectly winged out eyeshaddow and glowing skin. Charlotte Tilbury used her Goddess Skin Clay Mask to shrink pores and tighten the skin before layering on her Magic Cream and Wonderglow , to hydrate and create a soft-focus.

Emma Stone wearing Elie Saab Haute Couture

Everyone was waiting for Emma Stone to make her grand appearance—and she didn’t disappoint, making a coral lip look so good with her beaded Elie Saab gown. The half-up, wavy hair style was reminiscent of 1920’s glamour and polished the look to perfection. To recreate the look try Chanel’s Precision Lip definer in Rouge Candy and Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Tulip.

Keira Knightley wearing Valentino

The glowing mum-to-be looked breathtakingly romantic with soft, loose waves and a barely-there makeup look. Keira’s ethereal look was finished with perfectly (enviable) groomed brows and a rosy lip, courtesy of Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Marie.

Reese Witherspoon wearing Tom Ford

Reese was sporting a radiant, sexy, effortless look using Tom Ford products – Shade & Illuminate Highlighter & Shader Duet in Intensity One was used to define and sculpt the face, as well as Laura Mercier’s Faux Lash Mascara in Black and Brown for “a softer intensity” look. Reese opted for a simple glossy blow-dry and pink-nude lip on the red carpet. Get the look using Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Nude Rose.

What do you think – are these looks some of your favourites too?

Trend Alert: Copper

Copper seems to be everywhere, especially when it comes to homewares. Every time I log on to Pinterest there’s more metal inspiration for me to swoon over. From copper kitchen piping being used as a feature instead of hidden away, to home decorative items, this bronze coloured metal is definitely one of the major interior looks of 2014 – and is set to get even bigger in 2015.

At first I thought copper should only really be teamed with warmer tones and whites, but then when I saw the greys and stainless steel coffee table below with a copper top, I realised it works with pretty much most things. If you want to get this trend in your home I’ve done a little collage of my favourite items below.

Take a look at some of my copper inspiration pictures too and let me know if this is something you’d try and style into your home.

Superfacialist by Una Brennan Skin Renew Cleansing Oil – orangey-scented oil that when massaged into the skin and then massaged off with a damp cloth left my skin feeling clean, not stripped and nourished, not oily. The ultimate cleansing experience for fresher, more revived skin starts with this unique lightweight cleansing oil. Infused with Vitamin C and nourishing Olive, Grapeseed and Rosehip oils, this highly soluble oil transforms itself, upon contact with water, into a light milky texture. Boosted with Rosemary oil, Vitamin E and soothing Cucumber oil it gently dissolves face and eye make-up and removes daily impurities. Skin is left cleansed, refreshed and softer to the touch. So if you’re looking for a budget cleanser that’s kick ass and comes in at just over a tenner – then this bottle of Una Brennan is your guy.

One of which I love is the Yes To Carrots Rich Moisture Day Cream. It softens, smoothes, and firms your skin, leaving you with a healthy nourishing glow that radiates through the day. It’s a morning moisturiser for day long nourishment that will keep the gorgeous glow on your face!

Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel – Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel gently calms, soothes and smooths your eyes. It naturally reduces puffiness, brightens dark circles, tightens and cools your skin, it will leave you bright-eyed, bushy-tailed!

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo – This might just be my holy grail skincare solution – it is clinically proven to correct the appearance of blemishes, unclogs blocked pores, helps to refine the skins texture, controls the appearance of shine and fights the appearance of dark marks and scars. This comes in at around £12, and is often on offer in Boots. It’s the only thing that i’d never be without and my skin relies on it.

Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask – The warmth of this Sanctuary Thermal Detox self-heating mask helps to open up the pores so the charcoal and kaolin clay can help draw out the impurities from deep within the skin. As well as purifying, the mask also rebalances the skin’s oil levels to clarify, cleanse and leave skin with a silky touch. All for £7!

Let me know if there are any other skincare budget buys worth giving a try!

Going Home – The Weekend Bag

My love of streamlining goes into overdrive when it comes to packing. I like to have all of my bits and pieces in one bag when I travel around so to keep things organised and neat. For this weekend’s trip, a jaunt down to my home town to visit my family, I think I’ve really nailed it with just ten products. So here’s one to bookmark for your next weekend away where you need to pack light – whether it be for space-saving reasons or just good clean fun…

A Light Coverage BaseBy Terry Sheer Expert – This natural and multi-corrective foundation adjusts and blends with the skin to reveal a perfect and natural complexion. Now this one is negotiable depending on what your weekend plans entail, but for a laid-back, night-out-free two or three day trip you can’t go wrong with this. It erases imperfections, combats shine, signs of aging and adapts automatically to all types of complexions. Best of all… it brightens the face for a visibly sublime glow.

A Cover All ConcealerNARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – Blemishes? Done. Bags? Done. General annoying redness? Done.

A Cheek/Lip HybridNARS Multiple in Maui – A perky punch of colour to the cheeks and lips can be delivered by this handy stick which is creamy and long-lasting enough for both tasks in hand. Plus it can be applied with fingers. You see any brushes round here? No I think not…

A MascaraMax Factor False Lash Effect Mascara in Brown– Any old mascara will do, but this is my favourite. Curl-holding, non-crumbling and length-giving. Plus, if brushed on lightly enough, this will easily double as a brow tamer!

A Smudgey Eyes ProductBy Terry’s Ombre Blackstar in Brown Perfection – Just in case you feel in the mood to ramp up your eye look somewhat then it’s always good to have some kind of brown creamy eye liner or shadow stick hanging around. Line, smudge, stick all over your lids. Sorted.

A Multi-Tasking OilCaudalie Divine Oil – Overnight treatment, all-rounder dry spot carer, in one handy little (most importantly) spill-free bottle.

A CleanserUna Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C Skin Renew Cleansing Oil – Infused with Vitamin C and nourishing Olive, Grapeseed and Rosehip oils, this highly soluble oil transforms itself, upon contact with water, into a light milky texture. Boosted with Rosemary oil, Vitamin E and soothing Cucumber oil it gently dissolves face and eye make-up and removes daily impurities. Perfect.

An AM/PM MoisturiserClinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion – Finding a moisturiser that’s rich enough for evenings (if you’re not feeling an oil), but light enough for a base layer during the day is a toughie, but this one is just right.

A Hair Do-It-AllOribe Dry Texturising Spray – A mattifier, holder, volumiser and all-round hair sexifier in one packable spritzer. I never travel without this.

A PerfumeDiptyque Vetyverio – The freshest perfume I own, a quick spritz and you’re done.

Add in some cotton pads and buds, a toothbrush, toothpaste, eyelash curler deodorant and you’re good to go. Oh and I’ve taken for granted the fact that where you’re visiting will have all the shower supplies you need on offer – shower gel, shampoo, conditioner. Ok, so maybe I cheated a little. But still the bulk of your beauty bag is set in just ten moves, not bad, huh?

Autumn Outfit Edit – Sunday

The Autumn Edit concludes with outfit 7 – A cosy sunday outfit fit for chilling in bed with a film and a hot chocolate – a perfect way to spend a crisp autumnal day.

COS Striped Pyjama Top and COS Striped Pyjama Trousers – Nothing beats a cos pair of matching pyjamas, and this set from COS is just perfect. The lovely striped pattern is clean and pyjama chic. You wont mind if you have unexpected visitors and you’re snuggled up in these!

Zara Cashmere Sweater – Pair the pyjamas with this cashmere jumper from Zara and you’re on to the worlds most comfiest day in outfit.

The White Company Cashmere Bed Socks – These are not strictly necessary, but they’re nice, soft, cosy and warm. And that’s all the justification I need.

John Lewis Fur Throw – Wrap up in this cosy throw and you’ll be off to the land of nod in no time. It’s the snuggliest, softest blanket known to man and I just love it.

Diptyque Ambre Candle – Now this day wouldn’t be complete without a nice autumnal scented candle burning away in the background. Pop this on, sit back and soak up the scent you’ll be uber relaxed in no time.

I hope you enjoyed my Autumn fashion edit. Perhaps a Winter one could be rustled up next month?

Laura Recommends an Outfit for Autumn…

Yesterday I gave you a rummage through Laura’s Autumn makeup bag – today I’m giving you a peek into Laura’s closet… she’s fashion forward, glamour and sophistication rolled into one. So I quizzed her on what makes the cut for her ultimate Autumn outfit…
“When Autumn rolls around I like to opt for warm burnished toned clothes, like this stunning Bloomsbury Floral Print Midi Dress from Topshop – it’s the perfect mix of autumnal colours as well as having a timeless shape and style. I love how versatile this dress is – it can be layered or worn alone and looks stunning! I wear it with black tights for an autumnal day out or with black courts for a meal with friends!

For a nice day out outfit, I’ll pair this dress with my Luxe Boxy Cut Faux Fur Gilet from Topshop – Gilets are perfect for autumn weather when it’s not quite cold enough for a winter coat, but the best thing about this is that it can be worn casual or smart! Khaki is one of my favourite autumnal colours and looks great with browns and oranges! A perfect accessory for a cold day.

When it comes to autumn, footwear is always a tricky choice, but I think i’ve finally found a perfect pair of winter boots! These Margot Leather Tan Chelsea Boots from Topshop are both stylish and comfortable – the chelsea boot never seems to go out of style and the brown leather really compliments the oranges and reds in the midi dress. The best thing about these is that the small heel adds a little extra length to the legs, whilst not detracting from the detail of the dress.

To tie the whole outfit together I love to accessorise with my big Slouchy Holdall Bag from Topshop (can you sense the theme!) – this large fold over bag is the perfect size to keep all of my stuff in that I need day to day. I love the small gold detailing and the detachable strap, practical but fashionable!”

Hopefully I’ll manage to persuade Laura to get involved on the blog again sometime soon!

Autumn Outfit Edit – Saturday

The Autumn Edit continues with outfit 6 – A weekend autumnal outfit perfect for mulling around town, meeting friends or walking in the crop autumn leaves in the park.

Zara Oversized Checked – This shirt is perhaps my favourite piece of the whole Autumn Edit. There’s nothing better than a comfy, soft, flannel shirt for Autumn and this one from Zara is all kinds of wonderful. The colours are well within my comfort zone and look lovely for a dressed down weekend.

Zara Leather Skinny Trousers – These are a much pricier offering than I can afford (more purse friendly options can be found from River Island) but the soft leather trousers from Zara are just out of this world. Paired with a relaxed flannel shirt they offer a bit of toughness to the outfit and would interchange perfectly with all of the other outfits too.

Zara Bucket Bag – Nothing beats a good bucket bag from Zara and they’re always affordable. Good for when you’re to shopping or meeting friends, this outfit is my go-to choice when having a relaxed weekend.

& Other Stories Cat Eye Sunglasses – A good accent to any outfit is a pair of sunglasses, and with the weather we have been having recently I’ve been needing to pull mine out more than usual. & Other Stories is brilliant for sunglasses, I love my tortoiseshell glasses and I love these cat eye ones too.

& Other Stories Black Suede Flats – A pair of comfortable shoes is a necessity for mooching around at the weekend. I love the almond shape to the toe of this pair and they’re a perfect sturdy shoe for walking in the mulchy leaves.

Check back tomorrow for Sunday’s Autumn Outfit!

Laura Recommends Makeup for Autumn…

Today I bring you a rifle through one of my best friends Autumn makeup bags! Meet, Laura. We met on our very first day of university and the rest is history! We’ve always been bonded over our love of makeup and fashion – she’s my one friend that truly shares my passion for Space NK and the aisles of Boots, regularly updating me on her recent purchases and all things beauty. She’s also a bold lip babe! So I quizzed her on what makes the cut for her Autumn beauty bag.

Read on for Laura’s recent palette purchase, bold lip of choice and an ode to products that smell gooood…

“When it comes to foundation I like a medium coverage for Autumn/Winter and my favourite pick this season is from the Revlon Colorstay range – it’s long lasting and has a semi-matte finish which is great for oily t-zone! The best thing is that it sets on skin instantly, and it’s not drying on skin at all – making it perfect for the colder months.

Even though it’s coming up to winter, I still like to inject some colour back into my complexion to warm things up, and for that I like to use Bourjois’ Délice De Poudre Duo Bronzer and Highlighter. The bronzing shade is well pigmented and matte, making it a great contour shade for my fair skin. Plus, it smells amazing too!

For blusher I’m a huge fan of the Benefit Blush in Rockateur – this darker, rose toned blush with a brownish undertone looks amazing with a burnished eye. It compliments my pale skin, as well as my complexion post fake tan. This stuff seems to last forever and smells good too!

For Autumn I’ll be holding on to my NARS And God Created The Woman palette… This is my most recent palette purchase and I’m in love! It houses a mixture of nudes, browns and golds – both matte and shimmer – making them great for blending! The best thing is their amazing staying power. My go to look for an autumn evening is taking the shade Kalahari all over the lid with Galapagos blended into the crease and outer corner, paired with lashings of the Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme mascara. This has been a fave for a few months now – it adds lots of volume as well as separates lashes to gives a false lash look which is something I like to rock daily.

I’m a lover of bold berry lips, and this season I’m loving my NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama – this dark pink/ brown toned shade is perfect for this time of year. I love the creamy texture of these lip pencils… they don’t dry the lips out and they’re super long lasting! Perfect for an autumn nude or a your lips but better shade.”

Check back tomorrow for Laura’s Autumn Outfit look!
