Chanel Les Ombres 4 in Poésie – £40 – I’ve developed a crush. This palette is the reigning queen for autumn and now, (shamefully) I’m wishing away the tail end of summer and hoping that autumn will hurry itself up. At first glance I worried that this might be a bit on the pearlescent and shimmery side for me, but I was so wrong! These shades impart a beautiful sheeny glow to the lids and there’s no chunky glitter in sight!
In terms of the shades the quad houses a Warm Taupe Bronze (T.L) that is beautifully golden in tone that makes a brilliant one wash wonder shade; Cream (T.R) beautiful as an inner corner or brow highlight shade, or just washed across the lids delicately with the warm bronze shade; Rich Chocolate (B.R) a deep brown toned mauve that makes an excellent crease shade or just on its own; Pale Pink (B.L) a light pink toned nude that can be worn alone like a paler MAC All That Glitters shade or paired with any of the other three in the quad to make a more day time appropriate look.
The tones are just beautiful; the paler shades feel almost more suited to a winter collection, with their glossy finishes and barely-there lilac-tinted hues, but the two darker ones have that classic autumnal warmth making them a sure staple for this season.
Formula wise the shadows are brilliant, they all blend seamlessly onto the lid with next to no fall-out at all. Wear time, you’re looking at an all-day job here! Things just keep getting better and better! A handy palette for pretty much all of time, if you end up saving it for special occasions; these are the kind of shades that won’t really date or go out of fashion. And if you end up using it every day (like me!) then that’s even better, because it’s definitely a luxury purchase! You can find it online here – for £40.
Let me know if you think this is as good as I do!
