The Beauty Bag – July

It’s getting hot in here. So in the spirit of July’s Beauty Bag let’s have a little look at the products that make the cut when things get HOT. In the UK we’re finally starting to experience a season that slightly resembles summer and having exhausted all bronzey, highlighted, glowy options in June’s edition I’m vowing to add a splash of colour. Prepare yourself…

The Sheer BaseDr Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm – It’s fair to say we’re all over the whole BB/CC/DD thang. But hear me out cause this offering is really rather lovely. A little more pigment than the usual BB’s, with a bit less dew, I like it and I’m struggling to draw comparisons from my heaving sheer finishes stash. Full review in the works, but this gives a natural bright and glossy application for natural, fresh looking skin whilst controlling sebum production from sweat which prevents streaking. Bonus.

The Cheek Pop – For cheek colour, when you want to get your pigment on there’s not a more colour-punching choice than Illamasqua out there. I’m looking at the Velvet Blushes in Peaked and Conviction. Flushes of intense colour with long-lasting qualities. The lightweight cream texture delivers a velvet soft cream to powder finish perfect for injecting some colour into the mix this month.

The FixerClarins Fix Makeup – Setting sprays all over the world… watch out. This one tops the charts: Not too moist, a nice spray circumference and it helps to eek out my makeup for that little bit longer without a dust of powder in sight. None of this midday makeup sliding nonsense, this stuff helps things to stay put.

The Eye Edit – With the eyes I’m keeping things quite simple and opting for a light sweep of Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Sepia Ink and Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara in Black-Brown that can be teamed nicely with a bright lip…

The Lip Line-up – Polishes aside if I’m ever going to inject some colour into my rotation any time of the year it’s always the lips, so my selection to pick from for this category was pretty hefty. But two rose to the top of the pack: NARS Sheer Lipstick in Niagara, a sheer wash teeth-whitening, complexion-brightening pink and NARS Sheer Lipstick in Casablanca which I’m dubbing the looks ah-mazing on anyone orange shade.

Into the Beauty Bag these zesty options go. Dig out your shades girl as things just got a whole lot more colourful round these parts.
